Rare Antique Afghan Wall Hanging
A beautifully preserved antique Afghan wall hanging, woven by hand using traditional tribal techniques passed down through generations. The richly patterned textile features deep crimson, indigo, and ochre tones, arranged in intricate geometric motifs that speak of the maker’s heritage and artistry.
The top panel is crafted from vintage woven fabric, showing the subtle wear and softness that only time can create. Below, long strands of hand-dyed wool fall gracefully, adding a sense of texture, rhythm, and movement, creating a true statement piece for a soulful home.
This piece carries the marks of age and authenticity, with gentle fading and patina that tell its story. Handle with care, avoid direct sunlight and clean only with gentle vacuuming or spot cleaning using a soft, dry cloth.
A timeless textile that brings history, craftsmanship, and warmth to any space.
Collected by a local antique dealer during the free-spirited hippy era of the 1960s and 70s, these textiles were hand-picked on travels through Afghanistan and brought back to his Portobello Road shop in London. Their vibrant threads and meditative patterns carry the essence of a time when artistry and adventure intertwined.
